Inauguration of the KLE Homeopathic College and KLE-Rotary skin by Health Minister Shivananda Patil

Health Minister Shivananda Patil has sought the cooperation of private hospitals in the successful implementation of health insurance schemes, Ayushman Bharat and Arogya Karnataka.

Speaking at the inauguration of the KLE Homoeopathic College and KLE-Rotary skin bank here on Thursday, the Minister sought the support of large institutions to reach out to the poor in north Karnataka.

According to him, around 1.2 crore families in Karnataka will benefit from this scheme. “The Union government will bear 60% of the cost while the State will bear the rest. We will be spending an estimated Rs. 900 crore for the scheme,” he said.

He also clarified that the Ayush medical production unit will not be shifted from Belagavi to Bengaluru.

KLE Society chairman Prabhakar Kore said the society will open a hospital in Pune soon.

“We plan to open 200-bed hospitals in various towns in Karnataka,” he said.

City businessman Avinath Potdar said that the Rotary club will soon start an eye bank in association with the society.
