Belgaum | Smart city scheme: Slow pace of work slammed

Published: 07/10/2017

‘Professionals Forum Belagavi’ has criticised the slow pace of implementation of smart city projects in Belagavi.

“After two years of Belagavi being included in the list of smart cities by the Union government, works are yet to start. This is condemnable,” B.N. Patil, president of the forum, told presspersons here Belagavi on Thursday.

“If the pace does not pick up in such a way that at least a significant portion of the works are completed in three years, it will be akin to pushing the city backwards,” he said.

He said that the consultant agency, Tractable Engineering Solutions, had to share some blame for the delay.

He demanded that Regional Commissioner and senior IAS officer Shivayogi Kalasad should be appointed chairman of the smart city special purpose vehicle and the Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi should be appointed the vice-chairman.
