Belagavi Urban Development Authority will develop a layout in the city on 160 acres of land. “The State Cabinet has cleared this,” MLA and BUDA chairman Firoze Sait told presspersons here on Tuesday.

He said that the new layout would come up on agriculture land where some sites would also be given to land owners, apart from applicants. He was speaking after taking charge as BUDA chairman.

He said that he never wanted to be a Minister, but had always wanted to develop Belagavi city. “I had been trying to become BUDA chairman for some years now, as I have a vision for the all-round development of the city. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recognised this desire in me and appointed me BUDA chairman,” he said.

The Chief Minister appointed Mr. Sait chairman of the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation in 2016. However, he expressed displeasure and then resigned from the post in 2017.

Mr. Sait said that a multi-level parking lot would be built in Bapat Galli in the old city at a cost of Rs. 4.5 crore.

A 110-metre-high flag post would be inaugurated in the Kote Kere area soon.
