The South Indian film industry has found a new singing sensation — 12-year-old Vishwaprasad Ganagi. Vishwaprasad, who hails from the small village of Itagi, around 40 km from Belagavi, is becoming popular in the Kannada, Telugu and Tamil film industries after winning several singing titles and getting a chance to work with ace music

Vishwaprasad began learning Hindustani Shastriya Sangeet from Gururaj Mirajkar of Belagavi when he was four years old. He has since gone on to win the popular SP Balasubramaniam's music reality show Ede Tumbi Haaduvenu in 2015. He then reached the finale of The Voice India Kids in 2016. Although he doesn't know Tamil, he participated in the Tamil edition of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs 2017, which is a title he won.
It comes as no surprise then that after having won so many titles, Vishwaprasad was flooded with offers to sing for films. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman identified this little powerhouse talent and roped him in for two Tamil movies. Vishwaprasad has sung the Mard Maratha song for the Tamil and Telugu versions of Sachin A Billion Dreams. Apart from this, he has also sung JLK Anthem — Andamaina Lokam from the Telugu film Jai Lava Kusa, which went on to become a hit. He has also sung for Tamil actor Vijay's much-awaited Diwali release.
There is no doubt then that this firecracker from Belagavi has become an icon for upcoming singing talent not only just in the city, but also in other parts of Karnataka and neighbouring states.
