Abhishek Navale is at it again. Having already put Belagavi on the map with his world-record attempts, the skater from the Belgaum Roller Skating Academy, has attempted to set two more world records — the fastest 100-metre inline skate (13.02 seconds) and on road skate (12.99 seconds). The record-setting attempt took place recently at KLE Society's skating rink at the Lingaraj College campus (for the inline skate) and on the railway over bridge, Khanapur Road (for the on-road skate).

The 16-year-old champ has been skating for the past 12 years. Over the years, he has participated in and won many skating competition, rallies and other events. "I have also set the Guinness World Record in limbo skating, when I skated under 10 MUVs, at just nine-inch off the ground," says Abhishek.

The teen says that sending out an important message is what motivates him to set records. "I want people to see me set these records, so that they feel inspired to take on skating, and, in turn, lead fitter and happier lives," he says.

Abhishek is currently pursuing a diploma at the city's RN Shetty Polytechnic. His father, Sanjay, is a bus driver and mother, Sujata, a homemaker. "Although I am from a middle-class family, my parents have always supported me and have encouraged me to chase my dreams. They are proud of me and want to see me represent the country at an international level," says the feisty youngster.
The attempted record has been sent to the officials, and Abhishek will know if he set the record or not after three months.
