Belagavi Second Capital Decision: Shiv Sena urges Maharashtra to approach SC

The Shiv Sena on Thursday said the Maharashtra government should approach the Supreme Court (SC) and urge it to send a contempt notice to the Karnataka government for Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s statement about making Belagavi the second capital of the southern State.

The Shiv Sena said Mr. Kumaraswamy’s remark was “like rubbing salt into the wounds of the people wanting to be part of Maharashtra”, in an editorial in ‘Saamana’, the party’s publication. The Sena sought to know how the Kumaraswamy government could take a decision on the disputed area while the matter was sub judice.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has condemned the Shiv Sena’s reaction.
